Julia Ormond

JuliaOrmond was born in Epsom, Surrey, the daughter of Josephine who was a laboratory technician and John Ormond, a stockbroker. Ormond is the second of five children to her parents. She went to private schools, initially Guildford High School and then Cranleigh School, where early lead performances in Guys and Dolls and My Fair Lady began to draw attention. After a single year of art school , she was redirected to Webber-Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art where she graduated in 1988. Ormond was first shown on British television in 1989's series Traffik. This show focused on the illegal heroin trade that was thriving from the Far East up to Europe. Ormond played the drug-addicted son of the leading character, the Home Office minister working to stop heroin imports. This role received glowing reviews right from the start.
